plans

For the past month, I’ve had a Python script set up to send me an email every day with the day’s geohash (before I found out, today, that this site already has a notification system). Today’s geohash was finally at a reasonable distance, so I figured I would head there in the evening.

expedition

I debated between biking or walking, but decided biking would be nicer in the breezy 30℃ evening temperature. I also have not biked in at least a year. But alas, I gave a (terrible) explanation of geohashing to my lovely mother, who graciously agreed to accompany me on this trip.

As a proud achievement-gatherer for my various hobbies, I looked up the achievements on this site and realized I could knock out the Formal attire achievement. With my sandals and my newly-bought, very long dress secured with a hair elastic, we took off.

The ride itself was quite uneventful, and it wasn’t difficult to get to the location at all. Thanks Kanata for good cycling paths.

As we neared, I was quite in awe of both the setting sun and the beauty of the stream, bridge, and gazebo in the middle of a business park. But with nice grass comes the usual obstacle, as would be expected: flocks and flocks of Canadian geese. And a lot of geese poop.

After taking pictures, we started heading back, trying not to get caught by the mosquitoes. Those who live in Kanata will understand. Unfortunately, we still managed to bring at least three into the house.

Overall: great expedition. If not for anything else, at least I went outside and got some exercise today.
